The Living Building Challenge has put together a list of materials and chemicals which should not be used in construction due to their harmful effects on the environment and human health.  There are temporary exceptions for certain Red List items due to current limitations in the materials economy. + Lead (added)
+ Mercury
+ Petrochemical Fertilizers and Pesticides
+ Phthalates
+ Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC)
+ Wood treatments containing Creosote, Arsenic or Pentachlorophenol
